COMPETITIONS / EVENTS: The events will be under two main themes: Each theme will have three competitions for each age group
Description: Team Participation: Each school can register a maximum of 2 projects in each age group. Team shall comprise a minimum of 3 members and a maximum of 5 members. Registered teams shall courier 4 copies of the project report along with school attestation to organizers. Judges shall shortlist the participants for the 1st preliminary at a venue notified later. Notified schools and teams shall be in turn informed of the venue and timings. Teams for the finals of Brainstorm 2006 shall be selected from the preliminary rounds across UAE. 20 Teams in each category will make it to the finals. Subjects/Topics: There are 14 Major Categories: Division 1--Behavioral and Social Sciences Description: Individual event for those brilliant minds that see no limitations to their imaginations. The objective is to conduct and present research in a subject /theory/hypothesis. Individuals shall present research paper on topics of their interest in the field selected by the organizers. Participants have choice to present either investigative or library research papers. Participation: Each school can register a maximum of 2 participants in each age group. Registered individuals shall courier 4 copies of the research paper report along with school attestation to organizers. Judges shall shortlist the participants for the 1st preliminary at a venue notified later. Notified schools and individuals shall be in turn informed of the Venue and timings. Description: Individual event where we honor the Brain in the Brain Storm. The objective is to develop a device/gadget that makes life better. Individuals shall present inventions and ideas in field of their interest. Practical working models must be displayed Participation: Each school can register any number of participants in each age group. Registered individuals shall courier 4 copies of the invention description along with school attestation to organizers. Judges shall shortlist the participants for the 1st preliminary at a venue notified later. Notified schools and individuals shall be in turn informed of the Venue and timings. Teams for the finals of Brainstorm shall be selected from the preliminary rounds across UAE. 20 individuals in each category will make it to the finals. Description: A situational speech contest with a twist, for individuals with a gift for gab. The objective is to talk your way out of trouble and walk out with the bounty. Individuals shall be given situations and characters to represent, best speaker on the occasion will be awarded with the trophy. Participation: Each school can register 2 participants in each age group. Registered individuals shall attend prequalification and preliminary rounds. Judges shall shortlist the participants for the prequalification at a venue notified later. Notified schools and individuals shall be in turn informed of the Venue and timings. Teams for the finals of Brainstorm shall be selected from the preliminary rounds across UAE. 25 individuals in each category will make it to the finals. 8-13 years group will be given their topics in advance.
Description: Team event for 2 persons who are masters in weighing the pros and cons of current affairs. The objective is to speak for or against on a given topic and hold court. Teams shall be given topics to debate on. Participation: Each school can register 2 teams in each age group. Registered teams shall attend preliminary rounds. Judges shall shortlist the participants for the prequalification at a venue notified later. Notified schools and individuals shall be in turn informed of the Venue and timings. Teams for the finals of Brainstorm shall be selected from the prequalification rounds across UAE. 20 teams in each category will make it to the finals. 8-13 years group will be given their topics in advance.
Description: A team event for 5 blocks who have loads of creativity oozing out of their system. The objective is to create and stage a campaign for the chosen products and sell it to the judges and audiences. Participation: Each school can register 2 team in each age group. Registered teams shall attend preliminary rounds. Judges shall shortlist the participants for the prequalification at a venue notified later. Notified schools and individuals shall be in turn informed of the Venue and timings. Teams for the finals of Brainstorm shall be selected from the prequalification rounds across UAE. 20 teams in each category will make it to the finals. 8-13 years group will be given their products in advance.
Description: Prizes worth Dhs. 100,000* is at stake. And all that is stopping you from pocketing it is a little Grade A egg! The objective is to construct a launch craft for landing an egg safely from a height of 20 feet to the drop zone. Participation: Each school can register 1 team. Registered teams shall attend preliminary rounds. Judges shall shortlist the participants for the prequalification at a venue notified later. Notified schools and individuals shall be in turn informed of the Venue and timings. Teams for the finals of Brainstorm shall be selected from the prequalification rounds across UAE. 25 teams will make it to the finals. * The prize for this event will be awarded to the school.
